Tab Benoit with Special Guests (Orpheum)
Tab Benoit with Special Guests (Orpheum)
Friday. March 9, 2012. 8:00PM.Returning to Sioux Falls after a sellout performance last year, Tab Benoit has been a guitar player since his teenage years. He hung out at the Blues Box, a ramshackle music club and cultural center in nearby Baton Rouge run by guitarist Tabby Thomas. Playing guitar alongside Thomas, Raful Neal, Henry Gray and other high-profile regulars at the club, Benoit learned the blues first-hand from a faculty of living blues legends. He took his show on the road in the early ‘90s and hasn’t stopped since.
An environmental activist as well as a stellar blues musician, Benoit has made the preservation of the endangered delta wetlands his personal crusade. He serves as president of Voice of the Wetlands, an environmental organization he co-founded in 2003.
Tab Benoit’s high energy guitar blues will bring home the sounds of the bayou once again. And, he’s bringing a few friends along with him this time.
Tickets are $44.00 & $29.00. For more information visit www.sfjb.org or call 605-335-6101.

The Orpheum Theater opened in 1913 as a vaudeville house and seats just under 700 (originally seating 1000). The elegant and beautifully preserved theatre served in this capacity until 1954, when the Community Playhouse group acquired the Orpheum for its home.
